Big three calculator: sun, moon and rising
Your sun, moon and rising signs in one go. Add your birth time to include the rising sign.
What this means
The big three are the signs people quote most in astrology: your sun sign, your moon sign and your rising sign. Each answers a different question. The sun sign is about identity and what drives you. The moon sign is about feelings and what helps you feel safe. The rising sign is about first impressions and how you meet new situations.
They can all be different, and that is normal. Someone with a steady sun sign may have a restless moon and a playful rising sign, so the three readings can pull in different directions. Rather than picking a winner, notice where they agree and where they argue. That tension is often the most interesting part.
The big three are a starting point, not the whole picture. Your chart also has eight more planets, twelve houses and the angles between them, and the full chart draws all of it. Everything here is for entertainment and self-reflection.
Questions people ask
What are the big three in astrology?
They are your sun sign, your moon sign and your rising sign. Together they give a quick portrait: who you are at heart, what you need to feel safe, and how you come across when you meet someone new.
Which of the big three matters most?
There is no official ranking. The sun sign is the best known. Many people find the moon sign the most personal, and friends tend to notice the rising sign first. Read all three and trust whichever feels truest to you.
Can I get the big three without my birth time?
You will get your sun sign and your moon sign. On some days the Moon changes signs, and then we show both possibilities. The rising sign needs your birth time, because it changes about every two hours.
Why is my sun sign not what I expected?
If you were born within a day of a sign change, your exact time and place can decide which side you fall on. Some websites also give the same sign dates every year, but the real dates shift by a day or so from year to year. If your result is close to the edge of a sign, we say so.
Which zodiac do you use?
The tropical zodiac, the standard in Western astrology, where Aries begins at the March equinox. Indian (Vedic) astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, which gives a different sign for most people.
Is the big three calculator free?
The answer is free, with no email, no card and no account. The calculation runs in your browser, so we don’t receive your birth date, time or place. We also sell longer written reports, but you never have to look at them.
